Hair Loss and what you can do to take control of the situation

Men who have male pattern baldness normally have 3 choices when it comes to dealing with the situation. The first and most obvious is to simply suck it in and come to terms with your baldness and find it somewhere in your heart to love it. The other step is the one which we are discussing here, namely taking a wig or a hair piece and living with it. The last and most rarely chosen option is to take to hair implants which we will discuss at a different point.

There is nothing we can do about the negative connotation that society has for wigs or any form of hair piece that is used to cover up something that we want to hide. If we mention it then it becomes quite embarrassing for us, it has become a taboo subject that simply isn’t discussed in a public forum. This is really quite a shame since wigs indeed serve a very useful purpose that people without hair problems just can’t appreciate.

The fact is that the wig or hairpiece industry has been estimated to be worth as much as 150 million dollars per year and is one of those extremely sturdy industries with many companies that have lasted many hundreds of years. The necessity for wigs is there although most of us will never admit to it. Smart sales people have even gone so far as to avoid the use the word “wig” or “hairpiece” and name their products with different less obvious names which unless you are in the industry won’t be able to determine what it is. Examples of these differentiated marketing are to call hairpieces extensions, micro weaves or even some kind of fancy hair system name.

The fact is that despite all these fancy names and different marketing tactics, a wig is a wig is a wig. There are two types of wigs that are commonly sold in the market. These are the synthetic manufactured types made from either nylon or acrylic which are often a cheaper variety or another type that is actually made from real human hairs.

Below we will discuss the different wig styles that are commonly available on the market:

1) Normal Wigs
2) Toupees
3) Hair Weaving
4) Hair Bonding / Fusion
5) Hair Extensions
6) Hair Thickeners
